Custom Packaging

Custom plastic packaging, built around your product

Packaging is not one product. A frozen food brand, an online seller and a beverage company each need a different material, a different thickness and a different seal. From custom plastic bags to pouches, film and shrink labels, we supply all of it from one place, printed with your own design.

Orders from 5,000 piecesQuoted against your own specification, not against a fixed package.

What “custom” actually decides

Four things change from one order to the next. Get these right and the packaging does its job quietly; get them wrong and you find out at the worst possible moment, usually in transit.

MaterialLDPE, HDPE, PP and OPP each behave differently under weight, cold and friction. The material is chosen by what the pack has to survive.
ThicknessMeasured in microns, and chosen by the weight the pack carries, not by how big it looks. A large light bag can be thinner than a small heavy one.
FormatA bag, a pouch, a roll of film or a shrink label. The format follows how the product is filled, stored and displayed.
PrintUp to 8 colours, or left plain. Printing is where packaging stops being a cost line and starts doing marketing work.

Choose by what you are packing

The pairings below are the ones we supply most often. They are a starting point for the conversation, not a fixed menu. Every quote is built from your own numbers. If you already know the format, we have dedicated pages for plastic bag supply, ziplock bags and biodegradable film.

Printing and finishing

Print runs up to 8 colours. Film comes in clear, white, blue, green, yellow, pink, black and grey, so a strong result is often possible with fewer colours than brands expect. A single colour on the right coloured film can read better than four colours on clear.

Seal options depend on the format: side seal, bottom seal, centre seal, centre seal with side fold, 3 side seal, 4 side seal and PP bottom fold.

Why buy custom instead of stock

Cost per piece fallsSetup is a fixed cost. Spread across a real production run, printed packaging often lands close to plain stock.
Supply stops being a worryOne order covers months. No weekly scramble when a supplier runs out of the size you need.
Every pack advertisesA parcel travels through a courier hub, a doorstep and a living room. Plain film wastes all three.

OEM and private label plastic packaging

OEM packaging and private label packaging both describe the same arrangement: your brand appears on the pack, and it is produced under contract rather than bought as a stock item off a shelf. That is exactly what customized plastic packaging means on this page, procurement teams simply use the OEM term for it.

In practice, you approve the artwork, we handle the print, production and delivery, and no other brand appears on the pack. If you still need to prepare the artwork itself, printing your own brand covers that step. Plastik Malaysia is a packaging supplier, not a manufacturer, and we do not own a factory. We specify the job, control the print process, manage production and deliver to you, so you have one point of contact for the whole OEM order rather than a separate factory relationship to manage on top of it.

Which material, and why it matters

Most packaging decisions come down to four base materials. They are not interchangeable, and the wrong one usually shows up as a pack that looks right and fails in handling. The table below is the shortest honest summary of what each one does.

MaterialAppearanceBehaviourCommonly used for
LDPETranslucent, softStretches before it tearsCourier bags, heavier retail carry
HDPEOpaque, slight crinkleHigh strength at low thicknessT-shirt bags, high-volume retail
PP and OPPVery clear, glossyCrisp, less stretchDisplay packaging where the product must be seen
Laminated filmPrintable, clear or opaqueLayers add barrierPouches, food and beverage packaging

The most expensive material mistake is not choosing the wrong film, it is choosing the right film at the wrong thickness. Thickness follows the weight the pack carries and how it is handled, not how large the pack looks. A large light bag can safely be thinner than a small heavy one.

Three reasons buyers hesitate

These three come up in almost every first conversation. Answering them here saves you asking.

“I need several formats, not one”Normal, and not a problem. But each format and size counts as its own specification, because each one needs its own tooling. Most brands start with the two highest-volume formats and add the rest once the sales pattern is clear.
“We already have a supplier”Most packaging buyers run more than one, and that is sound practice: it protects continuity when a format runs long. Send one format for a quote and compare it against what you pay now. Nothing needs to move until the numbers say so.
“I have not settled my specification”Tell us what you are packing and the weight per unit. That is enough to start. Material, thickness and format are recommendations we make from those two facts, not information you are expected to arrive with.

What buyers ask before they order

What is the minimum order for custom plastic packaging?

5,000 pieces per specification. Printing plates and machine setup are fixed costs, so below that the price per piece stops making sense for the buyer.

How long does an order take?

4 to 6 weeks, counted from artwork approval and deposit, not from first enquiry. Seasonal periods run longer, so festive campaigns are worth booking early.

Can I order packaging without printing?

Yes. Plain film in any of the stock colours, cut and sealed to your specification.

How do I know which thickness to choose?

By the weight the pack carries and how it is handled. The specification guide explains the gauge-to-micron conversion and how to work back from weight.

What file do you need for the artwork?

Vector artwork with fonts converted to outlines. The artwork requirement page lists the formats, colour mode and bleed we need before a plate is made.

Do you supply businesses outside Selangor?

Yes. We supply businesses across Malaysia, and everything up to artwork approval can be settled online. Islands and highland areas (Genting, Cameron Highlands and similar) carry an additional delivery surcharge.

Can I order more than one format in the same order?

Yes. Each format and each size is quoted as its own specification because each needs its own tooling, but they can be produced and delivered together.

What is the difference between packaging and a plastic bag?

A bag is one format within packaging. Packaging also covers pouches that stand on a shelf, roll film that feeds a machine, and shrink labels that wrap a container. Plastik Malaysia supplies all four to businesses across Malaysia.

Do you handle the artwork, or do I need a designer?

The logo you already use is often enough for single-colour printing. Send the file you have and we will tell you whether it can be used as is. The artwork requirement page lists the formats, colour mode and bleed needed before a plate is made.

Do you make plastic containers or tubs?

No. What we supply is flexible packaging: bags, pouches and film, not rigid moulded containers. If a container is what you searched for, a stand-up pouch or a heat-sealed bag is usually the closer match for holding and shipping a product without the cost of rigid tooling.

Tell us what you need.

Send the format, size, thickness and quantity. If you are not sure of all four, send what you have and we will work the rest out with you.
